Hello,
When connecting to a SQL2005 instance using 2008R2 Studio, any 'Connect to Server' dialog boxes include a deleted login in the drop-down list. When clicking out of the Server Name this loginis automatically selected, hence i have to change it every time.
Connecting to the same instance with 2005 Studio does not include the user and i cannot see where it is picking up the login from.
Tried recreating the login and deleting again, no joy.
Any ideas?

I am guessing the login once existed and you set it to remember the username and password? If so you need to remove the following file and then restart SSMS and it should have got rid of the username.
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Shell\SqlStudio.bin
