Very nice question. The 2012-version of BOL isn't really clear:

In SQL Server 2008 Enterprise and later versions only

but the 2008R2 documentation is pretty specific:

Backup compression was introduced in SQL Server 2008 Enterprise. Beginning in SQL Server 2008 R2, backup compression is supported by SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard and all higher editions.

Nice, easy one 🙂 With total 6 options available as answer choosing 5 was easy by leaving the SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition.

I must be going insane - checked both for sql 20012 and both for sql 2008 R2, and then checked sql 2008 standard instead of sql 2008 enterprise! Not finger trouble, definite brain failure! Knew it as soon as I hit submit, before the website responded.

edit: looks as if some people have picked a less than 5 options, despite the clear instructions.

Got it right, but agree that picking the one that doesn't allow compression makes more sense than selecting the 5 that do allow it. Other than that, a nice question. Thanks.

I never read the "choose 5" instruction until I saw your comment.

However I new compression was available for backup since 2008 for Enterprise and 2008 R2 for versions Standard and higher, I just guessed on 2012 because it seemed obvious.

The purpose of the question was to reinforce the fact that Microsoft introduced backup compression for SQL Standard edition starting with 2008 R2. I thought about asking the question that way, but concluded that made the question too easy and it's already somewhat easy as is.
