  • This time I tried logically and thought that after Truncate command the distribution statistics must be deleted. But I got wrong. Anyways learnt something from this.

    But still I think you should have added the versions of SQL Servers as In SQL 7.0 it's not a True case.

    Maybe so, but given that SQL 7 is many years out of support and that you can't download it from MSDN - it would be a stretch for the question to be based on it.

    It is one of those cases where it is safe to bet that the question is about the current release or within the past 2 releases.

    Now I must confess that I got it right completely by luck but with a trail of thought that TRUNCATE TABLE is minimally logged and doesn't affect individual rows.

    Is that what the article from Kimberly Tripp explained?
