Database mirroring with transactional replication

  • Hi

Can you please tell how and in what case the combination of Database Mirroring with transactional replication achieved higher availability of the replication stream?

    Regards

  • Is this an interview question?

Anyway, this is more a question for the administration forums.

Furthermore, the question is too vague. There are many types of database mirroring.

    But you can start here:

  • Thanks for the quick response.

I refered to the link earlier and if i understand correct, Database mirroing creates 2 copies of database, one is called principal DB available to client and other is called mirror DB used as StandBy.But Cna you tell me under which critical circumstances , this needs to be done?

    Can you please guidE?

    Regards

  • Sorry, but I can't guide, for several reasons:

    * I'm not that well versed in high availability, and I don't feel like explaining something that I don't understand fully myself

    * high availability is such a big topic, it just can't be explained in a forum post

I can suggest you to pick up a book about SQL Server Administration and read up on the subject.

Or, with some research, you can find all the information readily available online.
