• Ron,

Democratic yes, correctly selecting the best solution NOT.

I tend to agree with you on this point, but how do visitors to our forums know which of several alternative solutions to adopt? A lot of developers seem to prefer the StackOverflow model of forum for quickly diving in and getting answers. Surely, we ought to provide a similar opportunity for people working for databases? I agree that certain aspects such as the voting of answers can be irritating and incorrect (there is no allowance for later, better, answers) It may be that the votes on solutions should be weighted by the experience of the voters, or their esteem.

I see a discussion forum as being a different beast from a Problem/solution forum such as ASK or StackOverflow. I'd go further than this and suggest the idea of introducing other ways of discussing, or working on, problems so as to make sure we're providing a way of hosting the full range of discourse on SQL Server matters. From your comment, I guess you'd hate that!

    Best wishes,
