My Cluster has removed the sql service pack!

  • Is this possible?

I had a cluster SQL2k EE 32bit SP4 on W2k3 64bit. I've moved the sql resources over to a new node and now the sql version is showing as 8.00.194 which is SQL 2000 RTM.

    WTFrack?

  • It is possible for different nodes be patched differently.

  • So if I add a node to the sql server I have to patch it even though it installs SQL for me?

  • Okay I re service packed the instance and everything is okay on the new nodes.

Oh according to MS documentation it shouldn't be able to start SQL server with a different level of binary files, but its good to know it can the next time I have a service pack issue!
