  • Error -1056899072 : The following system error occurred: Key not valid for use in specified state. .

I am using Visual Studio 2008 Developer Edition and SQL Server 2008 for BIDS. I am following SSAS 2008 Tutorial I have created Adventure Works DW.ds Data Source and Adventure Works DW.dsv DataSource View and created Date dimention and Adventure Works DW.cube. When I was asked to deploy I have got the above error. I tried after reinstallation of the SQL Server 2008 and the Adventureworks Databases and Samples. But the error persists.

I also verified the following post:

Key not valid for use in specified state by chanmm

"I am using the same AdventureworksDW Database in SQL 2008 as in SQL 2005 and same Analysis Services Project in Visual Studio 2008 but when I am processing the cube I keep on receiving this error. It is working fine and still processing fine in SQL 2005.

Error 29 The following system error occurred: Key not valid for use in specified state.

    Why is this happen? "

    But Microsoft closed stating that:

    chanmm.

Thank you for reporting the problem.

Can you provide little bit more information.

What exactly is the error message you are getting?

What dimension or attribute fails to process?

    Thanks.

    The Analysis Services Team. "

I tried load all the 10 lessons in the Analysis Services Sample Project and I am getting the same error from Lesson 1 to 10.

    Please help to proceed.

I have, earlier, deployed all the lessons successfully in Analysis Services 2005

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

I got the problem fixed after browsing the posts I got an answer from Claytonc :

"My SSAS service was running as NT Authority\Local Service -- i changed this to local system and it worked."

I have changed as he suggested in Analysis Services Settings in Sql Server Configuration settings for "Log on as" and my deployment process run successfully

    Bye .

  • Thank you! I beat my head into a pulp on this stupid thing and your posting saved me! Otherwise I would have NEVER resolved this! MS grrrrrrrrr!

  • Thank you! It worked for me too! 😀

  • Thanks.. It work for me.. 😀

  • Thanks very much espro_o5 - worked for me. I went into Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services. Right clicked the SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service, selected Properties and on the Log On tab select Local System account. Back in the Services list I restarted SQL Server Analysis Services and after that the deployment of the cube from Business Intelligence Development Studio worked fine.

Would have taken me 1000 years to find that issue, if ever.
