Patches (Builds) to be applied

  • Hello Guys,

    My Prod SQL Server box is having the follwoing version:

    -------------------------------

    Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3042.00 (X64)

    Feb 10 2007 00:59:02

    Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation

    Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)

    ----------------------------------

    I would like to know what are the recommended patches ( hot fixes / Security patches / IPAKs) has to be applied to above version of sql server. Also i want to know how do i check if those patches are already installed or not?

    I would suggest that you patch to service pack 3 as minimum, always better to rollup to latest service pack, as it is normally fully tested and all the updates have been rolled in the service pack.

    normally running

    select @@version

    will give you all you need.
