Maximum size of a database that SQL Server 2005 clustered allows

  • Hi all,

I don't know if this is the right board to post this thread or not.

I know SQL 2005 allows up to the following size maximum for a database size, do you know or know if this is true for clustered environment as well? If not, do you know of a KB that gives the information for SQL server in a clustered environment?

    Database size(32 bit) 524,258 terabytes(64 Bit) 524,258 terabytes

    Thank you,

  • I don't think there is any difference in the limits between clustered and non-clustered, but seriously are you getting anywhere close to 524,258 terabytes to start worrying about it????

  • Quite frankly no, I had the following KBs that I always used for these occasions, however since they (management) brought up CLUSTERED for probably future data architecture optimization, i want to give them a definite answer. Most of cluster discussions online are usually regarding hardware ultimum size rather than datable allowed size.

    thank you,

  • That's correct, you are more likely to hit hardware limitations than DB size limitations (for both clustered and non-clustered)....
