In case anyone got here by the same path I did. Migrating database servers from one box to another SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 I received this error after reattaching all my databases and trying to connect via deployed apps. Turns out I skipped a step - transferring the login information. This MS link worked like a charm http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918992/
