recover database only have log file

  • Hi all,

    How to recover database only have log file (Recovery mode FULL) and mdf file corrupted

    we have few months back full backup

  • Do you have the transaction log backups from the time of the last full backup?

  • If the MDF file is corrupted, and you're sure, first make a copy of it and the LDF files immediately. That way someone can help you. If you can run a last transaction log backup (tail backup) do that.

    If you have a full backup, when is it from and what log backups to you physically have now?

  • restore full with no recovery & log back ups

  • My two cents; bcuz I used to have to manage the Disaster Recovery Handbook for my last employer (and this is not just for DB recovery...)

    "Your Data Backup is only as trustworthy as your last test restore. Any data beyond that should be considered suspect.

    And---

    "Your Disaster Recovery model is only as good as your last survived disaster. "

    Not saying you should test restore every day,,, but you should at random intervals test your backups and your recovery models.
