Windows Collation vs. SQL Collation

  • I have 4 servers that have 4 servers that are mirrored backups. DBMS is SQL 2005 and Windows Version is 2003 SP2. The particular application is quite new and is having some issues with accounts that I believe are tied to collation. I have verified that the SQL Collation is the same on all the serves. I didn't set these up--just recently inherited them and have been tasked with straightening out an account issue.

The application requires a case sensitive account for reporting named CPD\PanReports. It was created in AD as CPD\PANReports. It works fine on some servers and won't work at all on others. This is a business critical app. We tried renaming and pulling the account back down and it still works fine on some machines but not others.

Has anyone run into this? I'm exploring 2 theories: (1) Could there be 2 accounts in different AD Containers since these are remote servers? (2) Could this be an issue with the Windows Collation on the servers where this doesn't work? If so how do you validate. I'm not sure how to check the Windows Collation? Is this in the area where the regional settings are? Can it be changed?

    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
