    Hi,

    I am trying to install an instance of sql server on my local machine and its showing me this error
    X setup account priviledges           failed

    please help

    Are you a local admin on the machine?

    If you haven't even tried to resolve your issue, please don't expect the hard-working volunteers here to waste their time providing links to answers which you could easily have found yourself.

    What does the installation log say?

    Try right clicking on the Setup.exe and select Run as Administrator.

    Administrator is not enough. You need to check the installation log to find details. Generally, you need to change some entries in security policy, such as debuguser, etc.
