From the recruiting perspective, I will tell you that I personally don't use portals such as Monster and Indeed to search for candidates. I think a lot of those recruiters who reach out to you for customer service jobs are just blasting anyone they can find and hoping someone will respond. I wouldn't suggest relying on posting your resume on those sites solely for your job search. I would say the best place to make yourself visible is LinkedIn. Make sure your LinkedIn profile has a lot of keywords relevant to the type of job you are looking. Adding as much information as you can to your summary and experience on your LinkedIn profile will ensure that it shows up in recruiter searches.

Also, being active on other social media sites such as Twitter is a great way to get yourself noticed by recruiters. Many companies also have Twitter accounts focused specifically on current and upcoming job openings that you can follow and even interact with.
