SQL 2005 Incremental Backup

    I have a concern. I take a backup at 8pm and differential backups at 10pm and 12am. I then plan to restore the full backup to another server followed by the differentials once they complete. When I restore the differential backup, do I have restore the full back plus the differential at 10pm and then the full backup and the differential at 12am? Or, since I restored the full backup at 8pm, just apply the differentials at 10 and 12?

    You restore the full backup from 8am and the differential from 12. They're differential backups, not incremental.

    You need to restore FULL backup and latest DIFFERENTIAL backup. DIFFERENTIAL backup is cosolidated backup and capture all the pages changed since FULL backup.
