Sync between Version 2000 and 2005 or newer

  • Hello,

My friend's production database is of SQL Server 2000. Many time he needs newer functions like row_number, some analytics and window function for SQL queries.

Is it possible, if he installs SQL Server 2005 or newer version on another PC and restore 2000 database's MDF and LDF and establish some sort of sync from 2000 to 2005 db. This sync should be single sided i.e. any DML/DDL which is issued on 2000 should be reflected on 2005 db, but non DML/DDL should be replicated to 2000 (production db), because non-production database is only for reporting purpose and use newer functions which are not present in 2000 version.

Kindly tell me such configuration is possible ? If yes, then please give me how/link.

    Thanks and Regards
