Please don't recommend books like Inmon and Kimball. They are dry and mostly abstract.
I need a suggestion for a good book(s) which teach data warehousing concepts with real
examples and in simple language. Does such a book exist ?

The Kimball books are a pleasure to read compared to other technical books, they are however very generic. Which goes for all data warehouse books I have read.
If you want complete hands on, do the Microsoft tutorials http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh231699.aspx
There are a few books that focuses on the Microsofts stack, they come with examples you can tinker with and provides more background than the tutorials.

I have not finished this one yet, a more hands on than Kimball, less explanation of the whole process.
