I'm running into the same behavior. SSMS 2012 intellisense won't do anything when I'm connected to SQL boxes that are hosted offsite. It won't even show me variables that I've declared, which is weird since they aren't something that SSMS has to get from the server. I've been searching for answers but haven't found anything on it.

I'm about to install 2008 SSMS on my new laptop so I can get intellisense back.
