Home Forums Career Employers and Employees Go for job you can comfortably do or job you will grow into? RE: Go for job you can comfortably do or job you will grow into?

  • It depends on a few factors. The biggest factor would be salary. Most likely if you make the switch to BI you would be coming in entry level even though you have overall database experience. The switch would most likely cause you to take a pay cut. If you can absorb that financial loss then I say go pursue the BI route.

A less risk option would be to build up your BI skills on the side and eventually make the transition then. Do everything you can to get up to speed with BI and then take on small BI consulting jobs. Once you do enough of those you will have the portfolio and experience to make the switch full-time to BI at a mid to senior level instead of entry level.

    Best of luck!
