I agree with the previous comment. Even if performance is degraded slightly (and it's not clear that it will be), the fact that you can maintain a separate dev environment is worth it on its own.
If you haven't even tried to resolve your issue, please don't expect the hard-working volunteers here to waste their time providing links to answers which you could easily have found yourself.
