DBArtisan Workbench

Has anybody used the tool DBArtisan Workbench, or the professional version for that matter.
I'm currently trialing the product and would appreciate any reviews you may have, or recommendations for similar products.

I have been using DBArtisan since 6.0. The all new 8.0.0 version is awesome. Though the readme says that they support from SQL Server 7.0, 2000 and higher, You can use this to access 6.5 SQL instances as well.
I am very much impressed with this tool. Specially with this new version, Analyst Series will be very very helpful.

To be honest, I haven't spent the time to review it much yet. My main interest is to understand what it does that I cannot do already with EM and Query Analyzer.
I use SQL LiteSpeed for backups and am very happy with that product, so the backup abilities which would be nice otherwise don't excite me all that much.
I'm having a difficult time justifying the price for what you get.

I trialed it a couple of years ago and the feature I liked most was being able to administer heterogeneous DBMSs with one console. At the time, we had SQL Server and Oracle and I could deal with both of them without having to run two different administrative consoles.

The nice thing is that yes, you can administer DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server (which we do here) all via the same interface. What I LOVE about DBArtisian is that you can run reports on any object quickly and see information that is difficult if not impossible to find in Ent. Manager (SQLSvr). Like, space used by data vs. indexes by table in mb via a pie graph. A easily printable document of any object... table report gives you space used/unused, row counts, col names, indexes, SPs used by the table and the DDL for the table. Via the GUI you can reindex a tables indexes quickly, run update stats on specific objects easily... order the tables by least amount of rows, most # of rows.... (that is great because my boss is always asking, which tables are the biggest now ?). This is also a little better than the Ent. Manager in Oracle too.
Granted, if you don't have the extra cash to purchase this product you can get by easily with Ent. manager just fine, I agree, however, if you can justify it is very nice to have.

From my point of view, time saving is the most critical piece in justifying purchasing of tools like this.
If I goto my boss that I need a tool & If I could save 5 hours per week using the new tool at this price range, my boss would buy it.
Atleast thats how I see it. Correct me if I am wrong.
Markus had mentioned all the frequently used features.
I would suggest you spend some time with it to see how much time can you save. The CS people are very nice, if you need extension of the trial period, they would extend it.

Bringing back to life...
Well, I think I have the budget ok'ed for the product. In fact, I'll be purchasing the bundle (DBArtisan,ER/Studio and either change manager or Rapid SQL-you get to choose). Much cheaper than buying each separately. About 5k with the main. agreement.
So, before I buy, does anybody have any last words of advice about Embarcadero's product vs. others?
