Home Forums SQL Server 2005 Backups Backup policy for 2 TB database (Interview perspective) RE: Backup policy for 2 TB database (Interview perspective)

  • You'll find most folks here are a bit loathe to answer interview questions, and we've become pretty adept at picking them out when someone isn't up front about it. However, since you ARE being up front about it, I'll tell you what you need to research. The problem with a question like this is a canned answer sounds canned, and if you can't explain the whys you're in trouble.

What you want to look into, for starters, is point in time recovery and full recovery mode. Include in that research differential backups and how the log chain interacts with the recovery of the database.

Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.
