address management software

  • Does anyone know of any address management software that is compliant with sql server 2000, i.e. for record duplication and address cleansing etc...

    Thanks!

  • Can't recommend a product, but David Poole wrote an article on this topic recently, which you might find useful.

    Maybe you could commission him for a nice bespoke number 🙂 [I'll take my usual 10% 😉 ]

    On the topic of skydiving, what's this all about?

    An unfortuneate incident at a drop zone in lincolnshire..it appears someone sabotaged a parachute with obvious intentions...The sport is a closely knit community so this kind of thing saddens the day really....lets hope whoever is responsible is caught....Blue Skies!

  • Yes, I recommend you to go for Data Cleansing Software and De duping software. The Data Cleansing Software will remove the erroneous data from the SQL server, and the deduping will remove the duplicate data from the Database. Both the two are Address Management Software.

    For know more about click deduping software and data cleansing software .

  • depending on how many addresses you need to validate,(and you want to do it yourself) this link below could be an option;

    i'ved used this to clean up and validate a non profits contact list of a few thousand names:

    it's a CLR that you'd have to add to a 2005+ instance, which in turn has linked servers to your 2000 database;

    so the data can stay on 2000, but the cleanup requires CLR, so that's 2005 at a minimum:

    as i remember it, once you hit 2000 addresses, it starts stops processing and asks you to buy into theri service, but even then it wasn't expensive(well, more expensive than free, but still)

    i've got a bookmark somewhere where there is a free service from some education institution, but i never bothered making a CLR to hit that service; if you still need a free solution, i'll try to find that web service for you .

  • Address clensing and deduplication is a complicated process, particularly if you want to achieve the standard required for discounts on postage.

    If you want a result that looks cheap and nasty, then find something that is cheap or free.

    If you want the professional result needed to qualify for discounts then you need to buy professional address management software.

    Each country has its own requirements for address formatting. In the UK, the Royal Mail site has links to some of the people able to deal with UK addresses. The mail authorities in other countries may have similar links.

  • The US post office has a NCOA (national change of address) service. They in the process maintain a standardized version of US addresses. There are companies that buy/rent this data for address standarization/cleansing. You can send yours off to one of these services and use their alogorithms to clean up your addresses. It is usually a quick turnaround time. I dont have a company in mind but you can certainly google ncoa address cleansing or the like.

    I like your reply and its fact that it depends on requirement. I think it should be in user usage. Anyway good sharing.
