Transactional replication with updatable subscription

  • Hi,

when setup transactional replication with updatable subscription we can see the linked servers created automatically. What is the role of each linked servers in replication.

  • The replication subsystem uses Linked Servers to communicate between Publishers and Subscribers.

  • thanks..

Is it only for immediate updating or for both immediate and queued updating??

  • All types of replication subscriptions. When you run some of the replication configuration stored procedures these Linked Servers are used to communicate configuration changes between instances.

If you have any link which describes the working of transactional replication with updatable subscriptions.. please share.

  • Sorry, I wish I had a more targeted referral for you but Updatable Subscriptions are not something I have specifically worked with in a production setting so the best I can do is refer you to Books Online and your favorite search engine.
