Failover Clustering

  • I just added a third node to the existing 2 nodes SQL 2008 enterprise cluster. I attempted to failover to the new node (the third node), resources were not moved over and I received this error in the systems logs.

"The Cluster service failed to bring clustered service or application 'Available Storage' completely online or offline. One or more resources may be in a failed state. This may impact the availability of the clustered service or application."

Could anyone please assist me if you happen to know the solution to this issue?

    Thanking you in advance.

  • confirm what steps you took to add the node into the windows cluster and into the clustered sql server instance

  • First thing, I added new server into windows cluster.

Secondly, I installed SQL on the new server and added the node into the SQL cluster. The logs indicates clear install.

  • Hi

You need to make sure that the storage is made available to the new node.

You can set this up in the Failover cluster administration under storage area.

  • Hi,

Before you install please add the Storage, Msdtc and Quorum drive.

I'm looking for more detailed info than this!

  • Can Msdtc drive be seen at Failover cluster administration tool of your third node ? If Yes, try failover Msdtc drive to third node. If No, storage is not avaialbe on third node.

    Please let me the result.
