I think it is how most of us roll. It goes without saying that there are standard and/or policy based practices but by and large a lot of what developers, for example, ask for should be something of a "black box" to them. It doesn't matter how it works, only that it does works. This isn't intended to be a cover all statement but in my experience it covers a bunch.
