I came across this thread a few weeks ago while trying to source a solution for a missing emails problem I had at work.

I know it won't help those who already commented, but am adding in case it helps anyone who comes across this in search for a solution to a non exchange environment.

I managed to recover all my permanently deleted emails so wrote an article about it here:
