Time in job does not mean knowledgble. I interviewed a DBA with nine years of experience who did not know anything about user defined database roles or even that they existed. I did not hire him.

Experiences like this are why I conduct very in-depth technical interviews. Doesn’t mean they will work out if they pass the tech interviews, but at least it eliminates the weaker candidates.
