Performance Point Server

  • I need some help, I had to re-write an analysis services database (there was a failure I couldn't resolve without rebuilding) What has happened is some of the values changed within the database. After reconnecting the database and re-linking the values, some of them are still holding on to the old definition causing the reports to fail. Any ideas would be wonderful.

  • What items are currently causing you issues? Once you modify KPIs, Scorecards, Reports, and Data Sources and publish them to the repository these changes will take effect immediately on all items that are referencing them. If the errors you are seeing are related to filters on the links that are setup on the dashboard pages then you will need to redeploy the dashboard to the preview or SharePoint site to update the files.

If this does not resolve your issue then I would need more specifics. What type of error did you get in SSAS that you couldn't recover from? If you were doing this in project mode you should still have your files and just redeploy and process the database. If you are not doing project mode then you should definitely switch over and do so and get this checked into a source control system. You can open up BIDS and one of the Business Intelligence project templates will allow you to import an Analysis Service database. This option will create the project files from an existing SSAS database that is on a server (basically reverse engineering the database). In 2000 this was not an option, but starting with 2005 this was a new option and I would highly recommend it if you are not doing so currently.
