Microsoft Certified Trainer requirements

  • Presentation skills.

Under this requirement Microsoft gives 4 options to fufill this requirement for MCT. Option 3 and 4 would be covered if you are already a trainer or instructor, which I am not. Then Option 1 is forking out money for the CompTIA CTT+ course and test, and then submitting a taped session of you teaching atleast 6 people something in your field.

The Option 2 is what I am interested in which it states "attend and pass a presentations skills course or train-the-trainer course from a CompTIA Learning Alliance provider". However the english in the requirements does not give detail on where and who offers the train-the-trainer course. Nor does it state what passes for a "presentation skills" course.

I am in the Montgomery, AL area and I have contacted New Horizon but have not gotten any calls back from them. Does anyone know of a place that offers the Train-The-Trainer course or a presentation skills course that meets the requirement?

  • Here is a Train-The-Trainer course:

From my interpretation of the MCT requirements, taking the course (#2) is the same as getting the CTT+ certification (#1) without the added expense of the CompTIA exams and the hassle of taping a training session.

  • Thanks for the information but I don't think my company is going to pay for me to go out of the South right now. I was really looking to for something that would offer it maybe in Atlanta, GA but I have not been able to so far.

  • For those interested I came across this program from PrepMasters:

    http://www.prepmasters.com/mct.php

Which also states they have an online program that you can go through that they state: "The Online Train-the-Trainer class is accepted by Microsoft for proof of instructional expertise for the MCT (Microsoft Certified Trainer)."

Has anyone ever used PrepMasters before?
