Is there integration of TFS 2008 source control with SQL Server 2008 Management Studio / Client tools for Database versioning???

  • Hi,

I am using TFS 2008 (which uses SQL Server 2005 behind the scenes for storing source control files). I have installed the MSSCCI provider for TFS 2008. I have installed this to test the use of third party commerical product (Red Gate's SQL Compare) with TFS 2008 for database versioning. This product allowed me to do two things - 1. Script my database objects and store them (as scripts) in TFS source control 2. Script the changes done to database and update the scripts stored in TFS source control (in Step 1).

I read in one blog that using MSSCCI provider for TFS 2008 and SQL Server 2008 Management Studio / Client tools, I could do same functionality or more. Is that correct? I don't see that integration when using MSSCCI provider for TFS 2008 with SQL Server 2005 client tools. Did I miss something?

    Please advise. Reply soon.

    Thanks,

    Ravi

  • You are missing the GDR2 download and install when you install it you will see SQL Server 2005 and 2000 for development but at the point of connection VS2008 still shows only 2008 you have to manually remove 2008 before you will see 2005 in the drop down if you have 2005 running. It just takes some helping.
