  • Easy one!

  • It's a fairly easy question, but so far 27% have missed it

  • So easy question.. just for kids..

  • Every question's easy if you know the answer. I was surprised at this one, and got it right on the basis I knew one of my colleagues had got it wrong and I could make and educated guess.

I've been writing extensive amounts of TSQL for more years than I care to count and I have never written

    character varying(20)

    in place of

    VARCHAR(20)

It almost begs the question, why is it not "CHARVAR(20)"

    Every day's a school day.

  • Amazing - yet another new thing that I have learned about SQL !!!

I guess you never did any coding in COBOL. Character varying is used all over the FD Section.

  • VS COBOL, VS COBOL I, VS COBOL II along with IMS and DB2 ...

all so long ago (after BAL) back in the early and mid eighties ...

age and senility are sometimes close comrades in arms !

  • So true!

  • I like your question. Thanks. My learning is growing very fast with this community.
