SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration not showing Database Engine component

    After installing and working with SQL server 2005 for some time I finally go to where I need to use database mail. Realizing it was not configured I found documentation to set it up. However when I got to the part where one used the Surface Area configuration only the Analysis Services component appears. The Database Engine component does not. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make that component appear?

    Hi,

    This is pretty much strange. I would like you to check setup files to see if it was succesfully installed (means components).

    Please also let us know if there is any other editon of SQL runing on this machine like SQL 2000 or 2005.

    This was an in-place upgrade of SQL Server 2000 to 2005. I have since attempted to change the compatibility level of the database to 90 and it is not an option. As was stated it appears that the installation/upgrade did not go as planned.
