RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

Can't answer your question but the new article by Adam Machanic is really good in my opinion:

Thanks Flo... I took a quick look. It's a pretty good article except that I have no trust in cost values listed in the execution plan. Just like his conclusion states, I've got some testing to do, I guess.

Sure, it's a task on my list, too. 😉 But it's really neat that he provides a complete test setup.

I agree... it just like some of the good folks on this forum do and it's always a pleasure when the article contains such code.

  • They should be good articles. They're taking the RSS feeds from all the best blogs and posting them up without attribution and frequently without links. It looks like this place is posting a lot of great content, but they're just aggregating others. Last I heard, they were taken offline pending some adjustment to their methodology.

You mean 'good collection of stolen content' seeing as most of that was copyrighted material reposted without permission and frequently without attribution or links

Exactly what Gail said, that site is nothing but stolen content from the community, mostly MVP blogs like Gails and the main feed from SQL Blog. It should be the best content online, with the exception that it was reproduced without permission and the site has been taken down by the web hosting company for violations of the Digital Media Copyright Act.
