Install Reporting Services after Engine

  • Hello

    I have a production system on w2k3 running SQL 2000 SP4.

We now have a database requirement that needs Reporting Services which my boss wants to put on this box.

My plan is to install IIS (plus asp) then windows service pack the server and then install reporting services (and service pack that)

Is there any issues I should be aware of?

    thanks

  • First question why? I think SSRS 2000 is too old plus you need to buy VS2003 to develop the reports you would be lucky to find it on Ebay. It is one of the most difficult things to install make sure your Win2003 is in SP2, install IIS6 then click on details to add all the features needed to run Asp.net. Then go to the location below to run aspnet_regiis. You should tell you boss to buy at least SQL Server 2005 workgroup edition so you could use SSRS 2005 and use 2000 as your datasource it will be much easier. Tell your boss to use the money for VS2003 to buy SQL Server 2005 which comes with free VS2005 you can use to develop your reports. Goodluck because you will need it.

    C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727

    Kind regards,
