I imported acess 2007 reports to reporting serivces 2005. i opened one report and created a dataset via the query analyzer. when I open the expression of a field, I highlight the dataset option, I can see field like first(field_name). When I highlight the fields option, i get a message that the fields are not linked to the reports. I can drag and drop fields from the dataset to the report. I would like to select the fields from the fields options in the expression, How do I get the field option to populated on the right pane?
When I switch from design view to preview, VS crashes. I updated it but it still crashes. When i go to the field properties\expression and hightlight dataset and double click on the field, the field expression is:
=first!( .value, dataset1)
When I drag and drop fields from the dataset, the expression is
=first!( .value)

Hi..
Please try once;
Go to layout option and there you may be using tables for creating report(s)....so...please select that table and click Properties tab / F4...
This will open Properties window and den you can see a dataset option listed dere...select the dataset name which is more appropriate or which u may be using for the table...This will surely...bind the dataset fields with the table and u'll b able to use Fields option in Expression window...rather than seeing d very first value of the respective fields...
