Sql Server CE and Active Sync Degrading performance

  • I'm running Active sync between CE and Express every 5 mins. it starts off fine taking < 1min but gradually degrades to 30mins + after 10 hours or so (obviously not every 5 mins anymore) .

its the same amount of data each time 2 records created every 5 secs which are deleted after the sync.

Rebooting doesn't help. If I restart and sync with no data changes it still takes 30mins+

However if I rename the CE database and copy in an empty database (first sync creates the tables) it goes back to < 1 min/sync.

If I go back to the old database its back to 30mins+

The only variable here seems to be the CE database or how long it has been running. Both databases have the same tables and records after the first sync.

The database running for 10 hours has had lots of inserts/deletes is there some reason why performance would degrade over time.

  • Hi,

You are a step forward... We are only going to change database contents of a Windows Mobile from a Desktop PC connected over ActiveSync.

On the mobile is a MS SQL CE 3.5 SP1 DB located. We would like to write and read some datas with a running Windows application on the desktop.

This should be possible: With SQL Server Manager Studio 2008 we are able to connect to the mobile database and modify data contents.

Have You sold this 'problem' or do You make 'only' a simple data synchronisation?

    Best Regards:

    Lesley
