Dear All:

Our system environment is MS SQL Server
Recently we encountered a problem with the database; we found a database lock message when accessing the database.

A pop up displays on the desktopas soon as you log in to the server, below message:
"Database is locked for administration, Do u want to unlock it"
"Note: Unlocking that is being administrated can lead to loss of data in the database."

why does this message appears?
what needs to be done any note or logs to be verified?
How to solve this issue?

Kindly give some advice,
Regards,
Mag.

Contact the database administrators and ask them whether there is any maintenance going on the database or is there any maintenance job(running in background) that lock the database before it start the maintenance operations.

Check under jobs in enterprise manager to see if there is any job which is under execution.

What version of SQL are you using? As Manu suggested check for jobs in the management folder in SQL 2000 and under SQL Servre Agent for SQL 2005.

Thanks!!
