RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

  • Well, someone had to do it. The usergroup's been dead for over a year. Now I actually have some time to do stuff like this.

  • Quit the 8-5 job and started consulting.

I have hectic days where I work to midnight and I have mostly free days. It's awesome.

  • Good going, Gail! I hope it takes off!

I'm surprised that they don't have a "tips on starting a SSUG" at PASS in the Professional Development track. I'd kind of like to start one for my area, but time is REALLY tight right now.

  • Good luck and while I don't think I'll be a guest speaker, I'll see if we can point people your way.

  • Hi Gail,

This is wonderful. I am glad you started this and I will definitely try my best to be there.

Good Luck, Gail! I wish there was a User Group in Cape Town as well.

There may well be in the future. Right now it's JHB, because that's where the three of us running this live. If things go well, there's sufficient interest, and I can find someone willing to do the organising, then there may be events in Cape Town in the future.

  • On a side note: What do you think the chances are of recording these sessions?

I'm just thinking of the people in Cape Town, Durban & Upington 😀
