event viewer

  • Hi to all,

For normal application errors we check in the event viewer application logs .

I have small doubt in the event properties what exactly the source is

whether it is a service name or application name.

    Kindly guide me.

    Thanks,

    Sandhya

  • Doesn't give the description of the error a clue what the source is?

Can you post more information so we can help you better...

    Hi,

More importantly, what is the problem you trying to resolve?

  • Hi

Could you please tell me where I can find the event viewer file for my server 2005 ?

    Thanks.

  • There is no specific "event viewer file" for SQL Server. SQL Server will write events to both the application log and the system log depending on the nature of the message, error etc.

There is also the SQL Server "ERROR LOG"... that location is defined in the startup parameters of SQL Server- you can find it in SQL Server configuration manager, or just search the machine for errorlog.*
