What does Steve Jones drive? A true "Dream Car" has got to be a Porche Carrera. A decked out truck is real nice but dream car is a whole different category.

Luckily everyone's dream differs. While a Porche might be nice it won't quite do as any supercar is not well suited for the quality of our roads in SA.
For my B-Day I simply want the company of those close to me. I am not the material type.

What really makes me smile when I receive a gift is to get something I like, but I would never have imagined the other person would have known it even existed. Expensive or not, that does not matter. Let's say, for instance, if my wife - who couldn't care less about videogames - gave me LittleBigPlanet for my PS3.

Being a girlie it really is the thought that counts for me.;)
Flowers and choccies are nice to receive of course, but they are too easy and show no thought.
My hobbies are reading (fantasy - nothing to do with work) and writing short stories. So I like books that show somebody has taken the time to see which author/genre I read.
I always do my first draft in pencil in A5 notebooks. Last year my children bought me massive packs of books, erasers and pencils. 😀

New MacPro instead of my good old 1GHz Athlon PC can make me more happy, though I like some weird stuff as a present, like 5x5x5 Rubik cube my friend presented me last B-Day or fondu set I presented him back.

Yes, for teenagers (and my son is a goth too) they are really quite sweet. Not them image society portrays of teenagers or goths is it.
I suppose an even better, "money can't buy" present would be rave reviews of my finished stories where they are posted online, or even better a magazine wanting to publish one (yippee a real author at last!! and cash too) - but although I said I write them, I'm not going to 'fib' and say the end product is any good (hence bumper pack of erasers) 😛

I'm a bit of a frustrated mad inventor - frustrated because I don't get a chance to put my ideas in practice, mad because some of the ideas aren't that practical but would be fun to implement. I guess what I'm working up to is that it would be nice to have our house finished on my birthday so I can crack on with something frivolous.

Perhaps you could 'invent' some parking wheels that are fixed sideways on the underside of the car. They could lower like a plane's undercarriage to raise the car up, then it could 'drive' sideways into the parking space and lower again.

It's funny watching some people try to parallel park 😛
Of course they would try to park in spaces too small and damage the front and rear of their own car and the one in front and behind them, instead of shunting just the one behind!

As above, Happy Birthday Steve.
I always book my and my wife's birthday off work and we go out and do something nice for the day. Her birthday is in July so we normally do something outdoors. This year we went for a nice cycle ride in the countryside surrounding our town and met her parents at Harrold Odell Country Park for lunch.
We've got just about everything we need, and most of the things I'd like are far outside what we spend on presents. Ok, so things like the Aston are a bit outside our total budget - never mind present budgets!!

What an intriguing article, especially given my birthday is coming up in the next couple of weeks.
What I've asked for (and actually already got) for my birthday is a load of portable net fencing for keeping chickens in one place, so we can let ours out of their enclosure and let them roam around our garden - or at least those bits we decide have too high a slug population at present.
An alternative I provided when my wife was asking was a custom harmonica wallet. There is one particular company that makes some really nice ones in leather capable of holding 12 harmonicas, so letting me transport my whole set easily. Finally, I also suggested a Shure Green Bullet harmonica mic and a Roland Micro Cube practice amp.
Woodworking tools? Of the ones I'd like, I already have all the ones my shed has room for. Cars? I lost my enthusiasm for them at the same point the overcrowded roads killed my enthusiasm for driving. No, I think I can honestly say there's nothing that I haven't got already which I'd want enough to jump up and down about.
