I think answer "Yes" is also right. A simple/straightforward answer.

"Yes, with full table scan details" is just an answer with more details.

Reindex, of course, a full table scan.

I agree, 'Yes' is still a valid answer, with a little less qualification.

I liked the question, but think the answer could have been just yes. I didn't know that the table scans stats were included "free" in the rebuild. A question I have, if you do update stats with a sample scan, after a rebuild, you lose the table scan stats. If you do generic update stats after rebuild do you also lose the table scan stats? If so, then doing rebuild would always be preferred to update stats?

I liked the point of the question and I hope that is not missed. I have seen occassions where the DBA performed a REINDEX in a maintenance plan followed by an update of statistics. The second step is more than just a waste of the maintenance window and CPU, it negates some of the benefit of the reindex (unless a full scan is specified).

I assumed based on the question wording that it was asking if the table statistics (not the index statistics) were updated. Guess I read "on the table" as the target. Sigh... c'est la vie.
