SQL Server Performance Tuning expert for 1-4 week project

    Hello, 

    We have a large social networking site and having performance problems with the database. 

     
    We are looking for someone who is an expert at SQL Server performance tuning, who can take a look at the database and suggest changes to database/table design, stored procedure optimization, indexes, hardware upgrades, and software changes (like lightweight pooling, etc), and anything else that will allow us to get maximum performance out of our database server.
     
    This can be done nights/weekends, and from home, and will be short term probably 1-4 weeks.
     
    Please, we are only seeking an expert.  We have SQL Server people on staff.  But we need someone who has a lot of experience tuning databases, and who can get to the root of our problems in a hurry.

    Just and FYI... there are many times that SQL code simply can't be tuned for performance and will need to be rewritten... sometimes, from the ground up.... 1 to 4 weeks of part-time nights and weekends may not produce what you want.

    And, once you get it fixed, then what?  The same people that wrote the performance challenged code on your current staff are simply going to write more performance challenged code and you'll need to find a temporary Ninja, again.

    It would be a far better thing to have your people get some training in writing good solid set based code to stop the cycle of performance problems you are setting yourself up for.
