port forwarding for SQL server2000?

  • I hope this is the right section for this question? I'm still fairly new to SQL server, I've a pc at home on my network that has Windows 2000 advance server running II5 to host a website, also installed is SQL server2000, I've forwarded a port to this machine so I can host a website to be viewed externally. I'd like to be able to view the SQL server externally so I could make adjustments to Stored procedures etc from where I work, can I forward a port for this? if so which one? and is it fairly safe to do so?

  • Have you read the license agreement? There is a $20,000 license fee (last time I checked, could be changed now) for using SQL server as backend to a public web site for example storing member information.
