SSDT v18.0 and SQL Server 2012

  • I recently installed SQL Server Data Tools for Visual Studio 2017 version 15.8.0, the last version that supports deploying SSIS projects to SQL Server 2012.   Everything seems to be working fine, however when I deploy a project to our SQL Server 2012 instance and run it, all our custom logging messages do not seem to happen.  We have simple Execute SQL tasks that write to a separate database, and SSIS says they execute, but we don't see the resulting records in the table.

Is anyone else having strange issues with the (near latest) SSDT deploying SSIS projects on SQL Server 2012?

If you have to work on 2012, beware the latest version of SSDT, as it does not support deploying to 2012 any more (nor Oracle connections!).   Version 15.8.0 is the latest that will work with 2012.
