Azure Blob Storage destination vs SQL Server destination

  • I am extracting relational data from SQL OLTP systems in order to integrate it with an Azure SQL Database. Currently I am using the SQL Server destination transformation without any issue.

I am interested to know what the use case is, or if there are any advantages in using the Azure Blob Storage destination in this scenario? From what I understand it introduces a couple of additional stages such as outputting the SQL data to flat files before pushing it to the cloud.

Is the main use case for semi structured and unstructured data??
