Writing Reports using VS2013 against SQL Server 2016 Cube

  • We are having some troubles writing reports for 2008R2 Reporting Services.  We have a newer 2016 Cube that we would like to report data on in 2008 until we can move all of our reports to the 2016 Reporting services.  Are we attempting the impossible by trying to utilize a 2016 SSAS data source with 2008 libraries.

The queries work, but when we try to utilize a dimension as a parameter the drop down is not populate.

Parameter settings for the Available (Get values from query)

When I change the Value Field to a value like Month or Year, I do get values in the drop down, but an error occurs when running the report. I suspect because the value is not recognized as part of the query.

    Thoughts?
