SSDT No reporting services

  • Hi All,
I am new to SSRS and see that SSDT does not have the reporting service template( under - file- New project - Installed - Templates.
Do I have to install SSDT again using .iso and select the reporting services? or can install from somewhere else?
I have few SP's and Views written in SSMS ( Azure) and trying to pull develop a simple report which I later show on Qliksense.
Please guide me.  I am also using the SSRS Azure TFS as well.

  • You need to install SQL Server Data Tools as well

  • I installed Sql server data tools but no luck I still do not see the report option. please advise. I need to Make a simple SSRS report.

  • What version of Visual Studio are you using?

If you installed SSDT as a separate install - you should now have an application available named 'SQL Server Data Tools xxxx'.  Instead of launching VS - try launching that tool...

The templates you are looking for would be under the folder 'Business Intelligence' and since you don't have that in VS then they have not been installed in that version.  To get those - check for the availability in updates/extensions or search online for those updates.

You would need to install the extensions for Visual Studio. Otherwise use SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) instead.
If you wanted to install the extensions for Visual Studio, search for and install the extensions:
    Microsoft Reporting Services Projects
    Microsoft Analysis Services Projects
