Anyone have thoughts about RockSolid SQL?

  • Looking at possible solutions to help automate and monitor our environment, and came across this: https://rocksolidsql.com. A simple search doesn;t come up with anything as far as reviews of the service, so was curious if anyone here has had experience with it?

    Thanks!

  • Can i ask what exactly you would like to automate ?

    Bernard,

A simple example would be: there is a regular check of free space in data files, and if a fixed size file is found that reaches some threshold, an automated response would go out, check if there is enough free space in the drive, and increase the size of the data file, and obviously you could expand that out to expanding the drive itself, checking data stores in VMware, etc... all based on how encompassing the tool is.
Even thoughts about allowing customers to make requests for logins, or heck, even spinning up new instances or servers. Again, there may be limits depending on the scope of the automation capabilities, but there are plenty of tasks that lend themselves to some sort of condition check and response automation.
A single platform to manage and develop these things in, along with all the other features RockSolid SQL claims on it's sight, sounds like an attractive thing. Just not sure how it is in practice, and was hoping others may have had some experience with it and feedback to share.

    Thanks!
