MS Reporting Services Projects in Visual Studios Repeatedly is getting disabled

  • Good Morning,

For the past couple days my instance of MS Reporting Services Projects is getting automatically disabled. When this happens I can not open any solutions or projects. I have to enable Reporting Services, log off and back on then delete my local files for each folder. I then do a get latest version from Source Control. This temporarily fixes the issue.

I was having the same issue about a month ago and ended up uninstalling and reinstalling everything ( Visual studios, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS etc.)

Does anyone know what might be causing this issue? How how best to troubleshoot?

    Thank you,
    Cervello

  • I hate to be a pest, but has anyone else experienced this behavior? It is driving me crazy and really hosing up productivity.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated !!

We have no idea what versions of anything you are using and it makes a huge difference.
Other pieces of information would really help -
You can't open any solutions or projects - Reporting services only or actually any type of project or solution?
You said "Reporting Services Projects is getting automatically disabled" and that you have " enable Reporting Services, log off and back on then delete my local files for each folder".
Is it Reporting Services Projects or Reporting Services?
What do you mean disabled and again versions make a huge difference. Are you enabling Reporting services or are you doing something else in Visual Studio or SQL Sever Data Tools? Current version, old version, using SSRS extensions? Are you deleting project files or what is "delete my local files for each folder" ?

And you never received any error messages anywhere during whatever this is that happens? And no errors in any of the event logs?

  • Hi Sue,

Thank you for getting back to me. Sorry for omitting some critical details. Good news is I think the issue is resolved.
Apparently an update had applied and a new pop-up message started appearing at the top of the screen. I think I was clicking the wrong option...when I should have been clicking do not show again. At least I think that was the issue....time will tell. So far so good.
